What is ergonomics?

Ergonomics is the scientific discipline concerned with design based on human needs. It is also the profession that applies theory, principles, data and design methods to optimize system performance and human well-being of all. Ergonomics looks at what kind of work you do, what equipment you use and your entire working environment. The goal of ergonomics is to find the best match between you and your working conditions.

How to create the ideal ergonomic workstation

Establish an ergonomic workstation

No matter the size of your workstation is ergonomically, it is important to take frequent breaks and brief. Make sure you practice the following to avoid fatigue and injury:

– Eye breaks every 15 minutes.
– Micro-cuts from the use of a particular set of muscles that make a lot of work (eg the finger flexors, if you make a lot of typing).
– Rest breaks every 30 to 60 minutes.
– Exercise breaks every 1-2 hours.
